  4. I think Rimmer should go back to being how he was before he became 
  5. Ace Rimmer.

  7.                     As much as I like the episodes featuring Ace,
  8. I must admit that they're only funny because of the stark contrast
  9. with the "real" Rimmer.  If he were always Ace, I don't think the
  10. programme would be as funny or even as interesting.  Flaws are always
  11. more interesting than perfection.  Presenting us with an example of
  12. the ideal (in Ace) is really just a way of making the defects of what
  13. we actually have (Rimmer) stand out more clearly.

  15. On the other hand, I have to concede that (in one way) it DIDN'T make
  16. sense for Ace to turn back into Rimmer.  Sure, from a show standpoint,
  17. it makes perfect sense.  But, within the context of the show, it doesn't.
  18. There is no plot reason (that I know of) as to why the crew (and even
  19. Ace himself) would want him changed back.  It just seems to be assumed
  20. that (for whatever reason) he will be, and he simply asks to postpone
  21. it 24 hours.  Why 24 hours?  Why not put it off indefinately?

  23. Understand that I'm infinitely glad that they didn't.  Still, it boggles.
